Christian Life Fellowship Church came to me in 2004 looking to replace their aging office computers. Rather than building them a complete package myself, I recommended that they take advantage of some options for non-profit organizations from a major manufacturer. They obliged and we pressed forward with laying down some basic computer specs and also what they wanted their new systems to allow them to do. My final suggestion to them was a Windows Server 2003: Small Business Edition server and Windows XP Professional workstations.
All computers were hardwired to the LAN with the exception of a media computer in the fellowship hall for the use of Axis Infiniti Youth Ministries. This PC was connected using 802.11g wireless technology and integrates seamlessly with the rest of the network. Capabilities of their new system include remote e-mail access, remote server/workstation access, a collaboration website, centralized user management, universal logons, access restrictions, and more. All services were donated for this project.

Christian Life Fellowship Church had wanted to add streaming sermon audio for quite some time. In 2003 and 2004, I built a new media PC for the church sanctuary and suggested a website hosting switch that would allow them to realize this longtime goal.
CLF's sermons are all recorded and encoded into a Windows Media Audio file to be streamed using the "mms://" internet protocol. These sermons are recorded live during the service on the media PC and saved to the church's server to be uploaded at a later time. I normally upload any sermons once per week and update the sermon notes page to add a link to the new sermon(s). At times some of our media volunteers will forget to stop the recording or will record in the wrong format. This forces me to take the large file generated and cut out any unwanted portions. I must then change the encoding and run it through Windows Media Encoder a final time to make it ready for streaming. This is just a summary of what is involved in providing streaming audio of every week's sermon. All services were donated for this project.

Mr. Ben Reehl came to me looking for a more cost effective hosting and updating solution. I provided him with an offer and he quickly accepted. We then set a date for a switchover and I engineered the hosting switch to minimize any downtime and unavailability of the website. Mayvillesteeldrums.com is hosted and maintained by TeamStortz Computer Services. Reehl also wanted to make music samples available for download and streaming, but not at a high quality so that people would still want to buy an album. I delivered on that by offering streamed songs and low, yet acceptable, quality 64kbps MP3 files for download. In 2007, I also installed a Flash audio player on the website to make listening to songs even easier.
The website was designed originally by another company to be nearly maintenance free. The calendar is the only item that requires regular maintenance to be done. The band listing page also needs maintenance about once per year to reflect new bands, graduated bands, and changes in the bands' members. All of these updates are performed promptly upon receipt of new information.

The Dodge County Emergency Response Team contacted me to inquire about the possibility of having a new website developed. I promptly helped them choose a new design and color scheme. A member's area was also set up to share documents and anything else that is meant just for their members. The site also has a photo gallery, DCERT news, a calender, a DCERT application, and more. The site also features an Amber Alert ticker with current information relating to Amber Alerts. All services were donated for this project.
